The Energy Smackdown is an energy efficiency pilot program that was created in 2007 by the BrainShift Foundation to demonstrate the impact of game play on behavior. With $200,000 in funding from utilities and foundations and volunteer help, the Energy Smackdown achieved reductions in the target population (residential rate payers) of 14% for electric power and 17% for natural gas over one year. These results are 2-3 times what is expected for programs of its type. For information on the next phase of the Energy Smackdown, check us out at b.shift.org or send us an email at info@bshift.org. |
